New Website Design

Mignon Faget HomescreenIn an effort to make MignonFaget.com more user friendly, we are excited to announce the launch of our new, refreshed website design on September 1st, 2015. In addition to an updated look and feel, the new website is easier to navigate and contains several new features that will make shopping simple.

We’ve added several new gift card features, including the ability to purchase digital gift cards online. You will receive an email when your order is processed, which allows you to make a purchase online or print it out and purchase in-store – whichever is easier for you!

Now users can check the balance on gift cards they’ve already purchased or were given to them. Fast and simple, this will make it easier to see just how much is left on that card Grandma gave you last Christmas!

Responsive Web Design

We’re very excited about the new responsive design feature on our website. What is responsive web design? It is an approach to website creation that suggests that design and development should respond to the user’s behavior and environment based on screen size, platform and orientation. Essentially, this means that no matter what you’re using to view our website – be it tablet, smartphone, or computer – you will be able to easily navigate and view each page. We’re bringing Mignon Faget style right to your fingertips!

Mignon Celebrates Her Vietnamese American Employees

Mignon hosted a celebration for her Vietnamese American employees on Thursday, April 30th, the 40th anniversary of the end of the U.S. War with Vietnam.  Mignon addressed her longtime employees, saying “You are the backbone and core strength of this company. We would not be here without you. Thank you for being YOU!”
She spoke of a Vietnamese man approaching her for work in 1978. She was impressed with his determination to master new skills and secure a job to support his family. Mignon said she was inspired to host this gathering after she recently watched the PBS series American Experience episode focused on the Vietnam War and the stories of Vietnamese Refugees. The cake basically says “in rememberance of the anniversary, April 30th.” From O’Delice. The food is from Magasin Cafe.

I had a friend in town from New York last weekend that had never been to New Orleans during Mardi Gras. We discussed the whole history of Mardi Gras from doubloons to krewes and the difference between being neutral ground side vs. sidewalk side. The only version of Mardi Gras that she’d ever seen was on television so I felt like it was my duty as a New Orleanian to show her the ropes or rather the beads!

We started at the Haydel’s Pop Up Shop and sampled King Cake, walked down to Sucre and sampled King Cake (it was a taste test and we did walk), popped in Storyville to get her a Nola Love King Cake shirt and then went down to Tchop to see the floats as they began lining up. Sometimes I forget that I’m fortunate enough to live in a place where Mardi Gras is actually a season. Screaming for the Femme Fatales Krewe to throw us something, making friends with our parade neighbors, and of course eating our weight in King Cake were experiences that my friend never would have gotten from just watching Mardi Gras on TV.  Here’s to a happy and safe Mardi Gras season and if you’re riding this year I’ll be sidewalk side around Harmony and St. Charles. Look for the lady with an arm full of beads and a piece of king cake wearing a string of king cake dolls.

Discover How to Do Your Part in Saving the Coast

Mignon Faget believes saving our coast belongs to everyone. Join forces with Mignon and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) to save our coast! The CRCL aims to protect and advocate for coastal Louisiana through educational awareness, environmental policy, and restoration efforts. With the support of our collectors, Mignon Faget is proud to have raised over $100,000 to restore the Gulf Coast.

You can do your part by volunteering for the CRCL or by purchasing one of Mignon Faget’s Gifts that Give, which donate 10% of the purchase of the item to the CRCL.

If you happen to be looking for a wetlands experience, visit Barataria Preserve. The Preserve is one of six sites belonging to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. 23,000 acres of Louisiana scenery stretch across the landscape, including trails, bayous, and waterways. Make sure to bring your binoculars in hopes of spotting one of the 200 species of birds that call the Preserve home. And if you are lucky – you may spot an alligator or two!

The Preserve is the perfect escape from the city, located just outside Marrero, offering beautiful hikes, wildlife sightings, and even canoeing and kayaking. Pack a picnic, put on your hiking shoes, and head out to the Barataria Preserve for a truly unique Louisiana experience. We were lucky enough to visit the Preserve while shooting our new catalog.

Autumn in New Orleans is a bit different than autumn in the rest of the country. Yes, it is football season and the kids are back in school, but when autumn begins in New Orleans it’s still 91 degrees, sno ball stands are still open, and thankfully there are no leaves to rake. I’m in the process of transitioning my wardrobe from summer to fall. I’m one of those people who’ve created arbitrary rules about what I will and won’t wear after September 22nd. I pack away my sandals, florals, and brights and dust off my knits, leggings, and boots.

Something that I’m also transitioning this season is my Wish Ring Necklace. All summer I was channeling the beach with my Wish Ring. My charm selection featured the sea urchin, crab, and auger charms. For fall, I’m going back to nature and sporting the feather, lily, and large thorn charm. Over summer I wore the 22” Wish Ring Necklace, but for fall I’m obsessed with the menswear trend which required me to rethink my length. I’m switching to the 16” Wish Ring so that it accentuates my neckline and falls right below my collar bone when I’m in my blazers and collared shirts.
