Inspired Exploration: Visit The Ogden Museum of Southern Art

The Ogden Museum of Southern Art is housed in “one of the most architecturally significant complexes in the South”. Because of this, the building has been and remains an enormous influence for Mignon in many of her pieces, specifically the Romanesque Return collection. The library building, a part of the museum, is the historic Howard Memorial Library, designed by the famous architect Henry Hobson Richardson.

HHRichardson-Library

Mignon based Romanesque Return on the Henry Hobson Richardson library’s architectural elements, particularly the voussoirs, medallions and engaged columns from the fireplace, and carved stone figures of the beast of ignorance and the beast of knowledge carved throughout. The Beast of Ignorance Chained bracelet forms an eloquent commentary on the library’s purpose: to educate the public and abate ignorance.  Mignon notes, “I found myself deconstructing Henry Hobson Richardson’s intricate architectural details and miniaturizing them as jewelry”.

Discover How to Do Your Part in Saving the Coast

Mignon Faget believes saving our coast belongs to everyone. Join forces with Mignon and the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) to save our coast! The CRCL aims to protect and advocate for coastal Louisiana through educational awareness, environmental policy, and restoration efforts. With the support of our collectors, Mignon Faget is proud to have raised over $100,000 to restore the Gulf Coast.

You can do your part by volunteering for the CRCL or by purchasing one of Mignon Faget’s Gifts that Give, which donate 10% of the purchase of the item to the CRCL.

If you happen to be looking for a wetlands experience, visit Barataria Preserve. The Preserve is one of six sites belonging to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. 23,000 acres of Louisiana scenery stretch across the landscape, including trails, bayous, and waterways. Make sure to bring your binoculars in hopes of spotting one of the 200 species of birds that call the Preserve home. And if you are lucky – you may spot an alligator or two!

LUZ: Bridal by Mignon

IntrotoLuz

Mignon believes that there is nothing more luminous than a bride on her wedding day. LUZ, Mignon’s latest collection is her first foray into bridal jewelry and accessories. The collection is inspired by vintage insertion lace and features freshwater pearls, white topaz, and intricate detailing.

Mignon says, “One of my favorite memories of my wedding day is my mother placing a strand of pearls around my neck. I remember being surrounded by my family, brimming with excitement about becoming a wife. My newest collection, Luz was designed to create memories like these, lasting memories on one of the most important days of a woman’s life. Luz is the Spanish word for light. I chose it to describe this collection because I believe it represents the glow that surrounds a couple on their wedding day, a couple about to embark on one of the most magical adventures of their lives.”

Destination Collection : Magazine Street Crossbody Bag

Destination Collection_Magazine Street Crossbody BagMignon Faget’s new Destination Collection features beautifully handcrafted leather bags in three styles designed with a woman on-the-go in mind. “The bags represent the journey that the wearer takes. They are her travel companions and tell a new story with each destination,” Mignon says. Thoughtful, subtle details like navy suede interior lining that peeks out along edges and rustic tongue and loop closures allude to patterns and designs Mignon often referenced in her leather and ready to wear collection from the 1970’s.

The Destination Collection is designed to work together, seamlessly incorporated into the wearers life. The three pieces are meant to be used in conjunction with each other.  The Magazine Street Crossbody accompanies the wearer on her trip to the destination. The Canal Street Clutch is what she changes to upon arrival. The Dublin Street Pouch is with her the whole time. It’s how she stays organized and effortlessly transitions from day to night.

The Magazine Street Crossbody is a versatile staple. Fifteen years ago Mignon Faget opened a new store on a Magazine Street. Now, the bustling corridor has become the shopping destination for local and unique retail. The Magazine Street Crossbody is inspired by a satchel that Mignon carries while exploring the shops and galleries on Magazine Street. Large enough to hold everything you need for a day of shopping, the bag features a slim silhouette that never looks bulky. Flap secured with tongue and loop closure featuring crosshatch stitch detail.
